Discovering the future of fashion: highlights from IACDE International Convention 2023 in Italy

Our team has been to the 2023 International Convention of the IACDE – the International Association of Clothing Designers and Executives. This international umbrella organization unites 7 different national chapters of the IACDE that are spread around the world.

We gained many valuable insights and impressions, but first and foremost, attending this conference has put a spring in our step. Meeting countless like-minded professionals in our field was truly motivating and reassuring. And we’ve returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a heightened certainty that the future of our industry is bright.

So, what impressed us most and what did we learn? The Convention covered a vast spectrum of topics. We attended sessions on global garment manufacturing trends, the exciting prospects of robotics in sewing, and sustainability. Discussions delved into 3D virtualization for garment visualization, the use of 2D digital patterns for 3D representation, and the creation of 3D virtual garment libraries and individualized avatars. It was interesting for us to hear how companies like Prisma-Tech, Hugo Boss, Scott Sports, and Teddy are using the power of Clo3D software. This underlined to us the growing significance of 3D technology in our sector.

It was interesting and powerful to hear traditional garment makers stress the importance of preserving the value and quality of our craft as we embrace 3D technology. These are definitely sentiments we agree with. And finally, as you would expect in 2023, sustainability was at the heart of all the discussions, which of course we were happy to see. The journey to Rome was an enriching experience. We’re excited to apply these insights to our work and do our best in shaping the future of our industry.
